How To Eat Burrata| What Is Burrata?

Making burrata from scratch generally takes more effort than making solid cheese since you are essentially making two cheeses, mozzarella and stracciatella. This process requires specific ingredients and temperatures to achieve the proper consistencies and textures, which can take up to 2 days.

Why Is Burrata So Expensive

Burrata is a type of fresh mozzarella cheese from Italy. It is made from the curd of buffalo milk, and it has a very high moisture content. This makes it difficult to produce because the water in the milk causes the curds to form lumps that are too large for traditional production methods. The result is a soft, creamy cheese with an intense flavor.

    How Burrata Is Made

Woven and shaped by hand, the process of making fresh Burrata involves artisans achieving the perfect texture through feel and experience alone.

Using either pasteurised or raw milk, large vats are filled and heated, allowing nothing but rennet to slowly curdle the milk. Once formed, the curds are dropped in hot whey and left to blend into a flexible paste. Relying on touch and pliability, workers carefully weave and pull the curd, developing a spun consistency akin to stretched curd cheeses. When the desired texture is attained, it is formed into a soft pouch and packed with torn strings of Mozzarella and cream before being knitted shut at the top. Boasting clearer flavours in its youth, Burrata is best enjoyed within a day of being made, as waiting any longer would risk the taste and texture being diluted.

Made and enjoyed fresh, no aging or maturing is needed to produce Burrata. No additives, preservatives or artificial fillers go into making the cheese, ensuring a clean and gluten-free experience.

    Fresh Burrata Cheese

The best way I like to describe the burrata cheese, one of the most delicious Italian cheeses, is a famous way of saying: Do not judge a person by their appearance.

Outside it has a soft shell that looks like the most exquisite mozzarella, but when you cut the small bulging head where the pouch has been sealed, the creamy interior is revealed as it slowly seeps from the center, like rich cream. An important thing to remember is that burrata is not mozzarella, it is a very special type of cheese. The solid outer curd is made from fresh mozzarella, but the inside is filled with a soft, stringy curd and fresh cream.

    What Is Burrata

    Burrata Cheese Crostini – NoRecipeRequired.com

Burrata is a soft Italian cheese produced from buffalos milk or cows milk. Rather than having one uniform consistency throughout, like other cheeses, it is a ball of cheese made up of a soft mozzarella casing filled with creamy stracciatella.

This artisanal cheese originated from Andria in the early 20th century. Over the decades, production was limited to the region. In the late 1980s, it was first introduced to California by Mimmo Bruno of Di Stefano Cheese and was later produced by local cheesemakers in-state. However, it didnt gain popularity until the late 00s due to the increased exposure of international food in the media and the internet.
