Stuffed Philly Cheese Steak Pizza In Steps

Philly Cheese Steak Pizza Recipe | Episode 361

To Begin this recipe you will need to do some prep in advance! Begin with cooking your cheese steak. I would advise you season the meat and add Peppers, Mushrooms, and onion. You can substitute these ingredients to your liking.

  • 2 pizza doughs about a pound and 1/4 each
  • a thick round 16 inch pan greased
  • rib eyes steak shredded and grilled
  • olive oil or a cooking oil with a brush
  • oregano about 3 ounces
  • Add steak blended cheeses and more mozzarella
  • Add second dough

The diagram above pretty much explains all the steps required! What it does not show is after adding the blended cheeses to add at least another pound of mozzarella. Once you have added the second dough here is where a rolling pin will be required. If you do not have one then improvise.

Keep in mind that you can make this a stuffed white broccoli, a stuffed cacciatore. I have made them with potatoes chicken, cheddar and bacon. Its entirely in your discretion!

The stuffed pizza now needs a glaze of oil over the top. Use a brush and dip it in the oil and glaze the entire top of the pie.

Another thing to consider is to make certain to tear a small hole in the center so it can breathe.

Baking Your stuffed Philly Cheese steak pizza

So now you want to add a generous amount of pecorino Romano cheese to the top of the pie. Once thats done grab the oregano and add that to the top of the pizza as well. It should look something like this!

The stuffed Philly definitely is rather new, it hit the scene about a good 10 years back.

Its really is not found in many pizzerias.

Its for that reason i wanted to share this recipe. For anyone who owns a pizzeria that might be stuck for some ideas.

As well as anyone looking for something new to try, a little less conventional.

In this post we will go into detail on how to make a stuffed Philly cheese steak pizza.

How To Make Dominos Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

    Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

Start by making the pizza dough .

While the dough rising, prepare the topping/sauce. Slice the steak into strips about 1/8-inch wide. Then sauté over medium-high heat until slightly browned and juicy with most of the pink color gone:

Remove the meat from the pan. Then add the onions, green peppers and mushrooms . Sauté for a few minutes until slightly softened with the edges of the onions starting to brown or caramelize. Remember, they will cook a bit more in the oven, just like the steak.

Now youre ready to assemble the pizza. Preheat your oven to 450°F and grab a pizza pan or large baking sheet. Once the dough has doubled in volume, punch it down. Next, stretch it out on the pan to about 12-14 inches in diameter. Brush with oil and poke all over with a fork:

Last but not least, sprinkle the American and provolone cheeses evenly across the dough. Then sprinkle the steak and veggies on top. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the cheeses are melted and the crust is golden around the edges:

The Best Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

Now, if youve never had the pleasure of wolfing down one of these gorgeously greasy gifts to the earth, youre missing out. How can I preach about Philly Cheese Steaks if I have never been to Philadelphia? Easily.

I have had a great time trying Philly Cheese Steaks everywhere from my hometown Chicago to New York. Just thinking about the intoxicating aroma of the tender thinly sliced steak with sauteed onions and green peppers topped with melted provolone cheese sends chills up and down my spine.

Tips For The Best Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

    • You need to cook the veggies in advance for a few reasons. First of all, this helps them release their moisture and keeps your pizza from getting soggy. You also get a sweeter depth of flavor from the onions than we would if we put them on the pizza raw.
    • Another couple things to prevent a soggy crust are to put a cheese base down on your pizza sauce before any other toppings, and to let all the juices drain off your meat and veggies before adding them to the Philly cheese steak pizza.
    • You can also use leftover cooked sirloin steak on your pizza. Just skip cooking it in the skillet, and add it with the cooked veggies on top of the pizza. This is best with steak that is rare or medium, not well done, since it will cook 10 minutes in the oven. Another great way to use up steak is our leftover steak tacos recipe!

    • If you don’t want to make your own sauce, a store-bought alfredo will work.
    • Don’t go overboard on the sauce. You want to just spread it lightly.
    • Use apizza stone so you can broil the pizza and get a nice crust, but bubbly top.

    What Is A Philly Cheesesteak

    Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

Before we show you how to make the best Philly cheesesteak pizza thats just like Dominos, well show you why the restaurant even decided to make a cheesesteak-themed pizza in the first place.

A Philly cheesesteak is a type of sandwich thats now a local delicacy in where it first originated from. Hence its name Philly, which is short for Philadelphia. This sandwich is made up of beef steak, caramelized onions, and melted cheese encased in a long bread, commonly a hoagie. Its a very meaty, cheesy, and, most of all, hearty sandwich. Theres a reason its so well-loved, after all.

Usually, Philly cheesesteak meat is either a thinly-sliced rib eye or top round steak cut. However, other cuts are also used, like the top sirloin . The cheeses youd find in this steak sandwich are either American cheese, provolone cheese, or even Cheez Whiz.

Some food establishments melt the American cheese and then add them to the sandwich for a more gooey eating experience. However, others simply let the heat of the steaks melt the slices of scrumptious American cheese. Also, while hoagie rolls are often used for this sandwich, some variations opt for French bread or the soft and slightly-salted Amoroso rolls. All these different ingredients and methods help give the iconic sandwich its signature taste.
