Earlier this summer, the brand teamed up with Brooklyn-based Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to create the creamy and cheesy concoction for National Macaroni & Cheese Day, and all 6,000 pints sold out online in just an hour.
Whether you fell in love with the flavor combo and are craving some more or you didn’t get a chance to give it a try the first time, you’re in luck. Van Leeuwen and Kraft Mac & Cheese just announced they’re bringing back the ice cream for a limited time starting Tuesday. The pints are selling for $12 a piece online while supplies last and it’s safe to say they’ll go fast.
If the flavor combo makes you scratch your head more than jump for joy, we get it: Why would that neon-orange dust translate well into a sweet treat? But Kraft and Van Leeuwen combined their expertise to create a creamy, cheesy sweet treat that actually seems pretty intriguing.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Kraft is launching a mac and cheese flavored ice cream with the help of Van Leeuwen, a Brooklyn based ice cream company.
The ice cream will be sold in Van Leeuwen shops and online starting on Wednesday, which happens to be Natonal Macaroni and Cheese Day.

So, when can you get your hands on this cheesy, creamy concoction? The limited-edition ice cream will be available online on Van Leeuwen’s website and in the brand’s stores across the country while supplies last starting July 14 at 11 a.m.
A pint will set you back $12, but New Yorkers can try the flavor for free on July 14 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. at an ice cream truck in Union Square. So, if you’re in the area and aren’t ready to commit to a whole pint without a taste test, it’s worth stopping by.
This isn’t the first time Van Leeuwen has tried its hand at savory ice cream flavors. In 2019, the brand released “Popeye’s Fleet Treat,” a spinach-flavored ice cream formulated with organic spinach leaves, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil and turmeric.
The same year, Los Angeles-based creamery Coolhaus Ice Cream teamed up with French’s to develop a limited edition mustard-flavored ice cream to celebrate National Mustard Day.

Combine All Ingredients Except Egg Yolk
Start the recipe by putting a medium saucepan on the stove over medium heat, then add the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and cheese powder. Whisk to combine everything well, then keep on whisking continuously with the pan still over that medium heat, keeping it going for about five minutes.

People were lined up down the street outside of the special truck covered in Van Leeuwen and Kraft logos when I arrived. The line moved quickly, though, because the ice cream was passed out for free.
When I got my cup of ice cream, I immediately noticed its bright-yellow hue. It was instantly recognizable, as it was the same color as the cheesy powder that comes in a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, though the texture was wildly different.
The first bite tasted exactly like a spoonful of smooth Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. It was a bit surprising at first to consume the taste of mac and cheese in a frozen form, but it was comforting and delicious in a way I didn’t expect.
