How To Make Homemade Cream Cheese

This Homemade Cream Cheese could not be easier to make, because everything you need to make rich, creamy, and tangy cream cheese is most likely already in your fridge.

Believe it or not, my Homemade Cream Cheese is actually made with milk. I use whole milk in this recipe to get the richness we all know and love in a thick cream cheese. It starts with milk, then I use lemon juice. Thats right: these 2 ingredients create a reaction which curdles the cheese. Then its just the process of straining the cheese from the whey, and what I have left is the beginnings of my cream cheese.

After blending thoroughly, I transfer the mix to an airtight container and store it in the fridge. This way, I always have cream cheese waiting on me for baking, cooking, and of course, spreading onto a freshly toasted bagel!

How To Make Chocolate Loaf Cake With Chocolate Cream Cheese Filling

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Set this mixture aside.

Cream the butter and sugar on a stand mixer bowl until the mixture is light, creamy and fluffy. You can scrape the sides here with a spatula from time to time as needed.

Once fluffy, add the eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture. Mix the eggs well after each addition.

Next, you are going to alternately add the flour mixture and the buttermilk. The order will be like this:

    • With the machine running at low speed. Add 1/3 of the dry ingredients, beat to incorporate.
    • Add 1/2 of the buttermilk and increasing the mixer speed, mix it well. Add another third of the flour mixture. Beat well.
    • Add the remaining half of the buttermilk, and finally, beat in the remaining flour mixture. The resulting chocolate batter should be lump-free and smooth, but dont beat it more than you have to.

Pour half of the chocolate batter on a greased 9×5 loaf pan. Spoon the cream cheese batter over the top, being careful to keep it contained at the center. Top the cream cheese with the remaining batter, covering much of the white as you can.

Bake the loaf cake at 350 F for 50-55 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick tester comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let the cake cool slightly, then pour the chocolate glaze on top.

How Do You Make Cream Cheese Frosting

To make cream cheese frosting, youll need your butter and cream cheese, which should basically be at room temperature. Keep in mind though that if youre in a pretty warm climate, room temperature may be little too warm. So as you consider the right consistency for the butter and cream cheese, it should be a little cool to the touch, but soft enough that if poked, it makes an indention without your finger going straight through it.

As for ratio of butter to cream cheese, I use a little less butter and a little more cream cheese. If youre going for a cream cheese frosting, I say really go for it. Theres not a big decrease in butter, but just enough to make sure it doesnt steal the show.

Once youve combined your cream cheese and butter so that its nice and smooth , its time to add the powdered sugar. I know its tempting to reduce the amount of powdered sugar and might seem harmless, but this is what adds volume and structure to the frosting. If you reduce the amount of powdered sugar, just know that itll affect the final consistency. If youre looking for a pipe-able frosting, be sure to use the full amount.

The final ingredient is the vanilla extract, which adds nice flavor to the cream cheese frosting for that last final touch!

If youre curious as to why I believe this is the BEST cream cheese frosting recipe, or if you want extra help ensuring yours comes out perfectly, then read through my tips and explanations below. If you have any questions, theyre probably answered!

This is indeed a simple recipe, but I find sometimes its easiest to overlook things that are simple and to then be disappointed with lackluster results.

What type of cream cheese is best for frosting?

Use a regular full-fat cream cheese brick at a cool room temperature. Do NOT use whipped or spreadable cream cheese made for bagels. Ive found that some off-brand cream cheese bricks have an unappealing, almost watery texture. Go with a quality brand when possible.

    For the butter:

Unsalted butter at a cool room temperature helps to make the frosting light, fluffy, and sturdy enough to pipe. Unsalted really does work best so you dont end up with a buttercream that tastes like salt. Check out my article on Unsalted vs. Salted Butter for more on this.

Secret ingredient for the BEST cream cheese frosting?!

It may not be so secret once you take a closer look at these photos. The secret ingredient that elevates this frosting to a gourmet level. its vanilla PASTE! Yes, its a little pricier and harder to find than regular vanilla extract, but its totally worth it.

You can purchase vanilla paste at gourmet food and kitchen stores like Williams Sonoma and Sur la Table, or make it easy on yourself and just add a bottle to your next .

Its enough frosting to generously frost a three layer 8-inch cake and have frosting between the layers and on the outside of the cake. It also pipes beautifully if using it for borders and decorations.

    Stuffed French Toast Recipe

Today I am sharing my Stuffed French Toast recipe. Can you say delicious?!

Every Christmas my family and I have Christmas brunch instead of the typical Christmas dinner. This is a tradition I started because Thanksgiving and Christmas are so close together. I was not interested in serving or eating the same foods I had just made for Thanksgiving. So this is how Christmas brunch began at our house.

Our main dish is this Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast. It is seriously to die for! My whole family loves it! Cover it with fresh or frozen strawberries. Use the juice from the frozen strawberries in place of syrup. If you prefer fresh strawberries, you can use strawberry syrup. Top with whipped cream and you are set. Enjoy!!

When researching How to Make Cream Cheese, I tried a lot of recipes and wasted a lot of milk. I couldnt find a recipe that worked without having to buy active cultures or hang a cream cheese for hours. I hate waste, and I dont want you to waste your ingredients, so I have a foolproof recipe for you that yields delicious Homemade Cream Cheese. My one piece of advice would be to add a generous amount of salt and try eating it warm.

It is just heaven on a cracker.

If you find after blending the cream cheese is a bit gritty, just keep on going. The added salt will season the cream cheese and help the curdles to break down farther into the most lovely smooth cream cheese.

Carrot Cake Muffins with Cream Cheese Filling, incredibly moist and light, the best Easter treat after the classic Carrot Cake. The muffins are so easy to make, and are out of the oven in 15 to 20 minutes. The cream cheese is silky and refreshing, giving the muffins a delicate touch.

You gotta love muffins! They can be made from scratch in under 30 minutes, and can have any flavour and filling you like. From fresh or frozen fruit and vegetables, to decadent chocolate, caramel or cream, it’s a matter of preference how to make them.

And since Easter is upon us, nothing better than a twist on a classic dessert recipe: the one and only Carrot Cake. Not that the cake is not easy to make, but these muffins are even quicker and easier to bake. And kids can give a helping hand too. That is, if you don’t mind mess in the kitchen!

All you need is a muffin tin, and a few simple ingredients. The muffins are a lot healthier than the more popular carrot cake cupcakes, which are rich in buttercream icing. The cream cheese filling I used for the muffins is made with cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract only.

You can top these muffins with icing if you wish, it’s entirely up to you, but if you like to keep them lighter and simpler, then just the filling should be more than enough. Or no filling at all, for some healthy carrot cake muffins.
