How To Make A Homemade Cheese Ball

Combine ingredients. Beat cream cheese until smooth, and then mix in the remaining ingredients. Remember that high quality ingredients make a high quality cheese ball. Buy block cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese!

Form the cheese ball. Use a spatula and your hands to form the mixture into a ball. Be sure to spray your hands with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the cheese from sticking.

Coat in nuts. You can use whatever type of nuts you prefer, just be sure to chop them finely. To coat in nuts, hold the cheese ball in one hand and use your other hand to gently scoop the chopped nuts and press them onto the ball.

Chill. Wrap the cheeseball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.

How To Make Queso Dip

5 minute nacho cheese sauce recipe. Perfect for dipping, or poured over ...
  • Combine shredded cheese and cornstarch.Toss gently so all the cheese is coated in the cornstarch. This will help thicken the sauce into a dip-able consistency, and will also help prevent the cheese from separating into a greasy puddle while being heated.
  • Heat butter and oil, then cook onion.I like to use both oil and butter here because I want the flavor of butter, but the oil will help raise the smoke point of the butter, so it wont burn when we have it heated over medium high heat.
  • Add garlic and tomato and cook until softened. Stir in spices.
  • Add evaporated milk and cheese/cornstarch mixture.Evaporated milk is best here because it has emulsifiers in it that keep the cheese from breaking , and ensures a smooth creamy dip.
  • Stir in green chiles and stir until cheese melts. To be on the safe side, I usually turn down the heat when Im stirring the cheese in. Stirring in a figure 8 motion usually helps the cheese melt evenly.
  • Stir in cilantro and milk if needed. You may find your queso is the perfect consistency, its all a matter of preference. Keep in mind that this queso will thicken a bit as a cools.

    Using Any Type Of Alcohol

Besides using dairy and non-dairy products, you can also add alcohol. This will add a pop of uniqueness to the taste besides thinning out your dip. But at times the alcohol evaporates at high heat. Therefore, you have to cook the alcohol in medium heat for it to not go bad!

    Beer

Adding beer to your dip will definitely thin out your dip. Plus itll add a very sweet and sour taste to your dish.

So, add the beer one tablespoon at once and stir it in. Add more if you didnt get the right consistency with one spoon of liquid.

Now if youre using cheddar cheese, American lager will go great with it. But the German pilsner will give an extra sharp taste to your dish.

Red Wine Or Dry White Wine

Now for this, youll use the one tablespoon at a time method as well. However, there is a limit to how much wine per pound of cheese you can add. Because wine usually has a sweet, sour, and at times salty taste. And this can overpower the cheese flavor. You can use 5 tablespoons per 6 ounces of cheese.

For this, add the wine when the dip is still on the stove. Reduce the temperature down to low heat. Then, slowly add your choice of wine.

Make sure to incorporate the wine, depending on your portion size. Otherwise, your cheese dip might end up tasting more like wine.

    Whiskey

Now depending on the thickness, you can add about 3 tablespoons per pound of cheese. Use the same technique of using one tablespoon at a time to add this.

    Bourbon
