Chuck E Cheeses Introduces All You Can Play Gaming

Chuck E. Cheeses is switching up the eatertainment game with an All You Can Play experience at company-run locations nationwide. Instead of tokens, guests will now be able to buy time to play all games, any day of the week.
It starts at $9 for 30 minutes. At Chuck E. Cheese’s, we believe in the power of play,” Ashley Zickefoose, chief marketing and concept officer of CEC Entertainment Inc., said in a statement. “All You Can Play provides a rewarding way to infuse more play into everyday by limiting the restrictions caused by budgets and busy schedules.”

Typically, tokens can cost 20 cents each for 150, or 25 cents apiece for 40. The chain introduced a card-based system, Play Pass, in 2016, which allowed users to buy cards with prepaid points and keep track of tickets. And while games typically cost different amounts of tokens, the All You Can Play model allows users to play any game during their allotted time period. They can also pause the purchase up to two times, in case they want to grab a meal, use the bathroom, or just take a break. Both options will remain in place for now.
Of the 608 units, 519 are company run by CEC, the company owned by Apollo Global Management LLC. The firm also runs 147 Peter Piper Pizza units and purchased Qdoba from Jack in the Box in mid-March for about $305 million in cash.

By 2012, CEC was struggling with decreasing revenue. They ran a rebranding campaign, changing the rat mascot into a rock star guitar-playing mouse. In-store restaurant sales continued to decline through 2013 but merchandising and box office revenue increased.
In February 2014, Apollo Global Management acquired CEC Entertainment, Inc. for $54 per share, or about $950 million. In October 2014, under Apollo Global Management, CEC Entertainment announced that they would purchase their Phoenix-based competitor, Peter Piper Pizza from ACON Investments.
In August 2017, the company began to pilot a new design concept at seven remodeled locations , branded as Chuck E. Cheese Pizzeria & Games. These locations feature more upscale decor with a “muted” interior color scheme, an open kitchen, the “Play Pass” card system to replace arcade tokens, and the animatronic stage show replaced by a dance floor area. These changes, along with expansions to food offerings, were intended to help the chain be more appealing to adults and encourage family dining as opposed to primarily hosting parties.

Ah, Sunday mornings. I love them. I often try to feed my dogs later and let them out later than usual on Saturday evenings, so that will buy me some extra time on Sunday mornings. If its rainy and cold, I love staying snuggled in bed.
I still get a Sunday paper. On warmer days, I love to take my coffee out to the patio and drink it while I read the paper. I often cook big breakfasts on Sundays.

Recently Chuck E Cheese announced that it was going to have a special sensory/autism time at their restaurants. Im being generous with the term restaurant. Lets face it, the only reason we eat that crap is because were too lazy or too busy to plan a decent birthday party. But I digress
These special sensory times are one Sunday a month, from 9-11 am.
Who in their right mind wants to spend their Sunday morning there?
On top of that, Im tired of the autism and special needs community being an after thought. Theres a trampoline place near me, and their special sensory time is one Tuesday a month from 4-6. How super convenient, no?
You know when I want to take my kids to these places? Weekends, during normal hours.
Update: Some locations are actually doing this at 8 am. Yes, 8 am. So now if I want to visit this dump on my own time, I can do it at a time that is even earlier than his school bus. How relaxing.

Every Chuck E. Cheese is different, but most of them have some kind of free-play option involved. Whether its a play structure, a ball pit or the dance area in front of the weird animatronic Chuck, there is usually a place you can corral your kids before things get real.
You can cycle back through the free-fun again later, but some kids will be full-games-ahead once they start, so I like to delay using our Play Pass Points for as long as possible. I like to tell my kids that the games dont open until youve been there for half an hour or so, until Chuck E. Cheese has done the ticket toss, etc.
And Abe STILL doesnt know that the motorcycle ride is anything but something to sit on, so play that card for as long as you possibly can.
