CEC Entertainment, the parent company of kid-friendly and iconic dinnertainment restaurant and arcade chainChuck E. Cheesesought and received Bankruptcy Court approval for three very unique settlement agreements, earlier this year, under which it will pay $2.3 million to three vendors to destroy roughly seven BILLION prize tickets i.e., enough tickets to fill approximately 65 forty-foot cargo shipping containers. The backlog was caused by Chuck E. Cheese placing orders for tickets at pre-COVID utilization rates, the resulting pandemic and rapid fallout in sales, and, most generally, Chuck E. Cheeses efforts to transition from physical tickets to contactless transactions, like e-Tickets.
CEC Entertainment filed for chapter 11 protection in June 2020citing an unmanageable capital structure and the impact of COVID-19 as the primary catalystswith the hopes of restructuring its balance sheet and negotiating its existing lease terms with landlords. The Texas-based company has more than 600 Chuck E. Cheese locations across 47 statesmany of which were forced to shut down, at least temporarily, during the course of the pandemic.

As an avid Chuck E. Fan, I had been previously been enrolled in More Cheese Rewards. This new program is much better as you earn rewards more frequently the more you visit. You get 1 point for every dollar spent before taxes. Reward are 50, 100, and 200 points each. The rewards are e-Tickets , All You Can Play time, or menu items . If you visit CEC a lot, it’s a no brainer to download and sign up! If you only visit once in a blue moon, this app may help you visit more frequently!!! It should be noted that Chuck E. Cheese’s has been through a lot lately such as the bankruptcy and is trying to bounce back. I give them full kudos for coming back stronger than before. If you’re a kid at heart, a family, parent, grandparent, kid, etc. you can have fun at Chuck E.’s Place!!! For reference- AYCP is the best gaming value in the arcade industry and unlike Dave & Buster’s CEC includes ALL games in their AYCP time. So, how does one conquer Chuck E. Cheeses?
- Just not go back. That would indeed conquer them, but we did have a lot of fun. This one would be hard to swallow.
- Make it a special-occasion thing. It starts to cost a small fortune when it becomes a staple. Once every couple of months or so for a couple of hours wont break the bank.
- Get food elsewhere. The pizza was OK, but nothing great, and it was expensive. We can get better pizza other places. Its the noisy kid atmosphere that has the appeal .
- Get tokens off of eBay. Its easy to get real Chuck E. Cheeses tokens for about half price off of eBay. So you can double the length of your stay or halve the price of playing the games. Heres a direct link to Chuck E. Cheese token auctions on eBay. Make sure that the tokens are real Chuck E. Cheeses tokens, with the mouse picture on them, and not generic tokens or tokens for some place other that Chuck E. Cheeses. If youre not sure, ask the seller before you buy. Using non-Chuck E. Cheeses tokens in Chuck E. Cheeses machines is theft.
- Start with the free stuff. There actually is free stuff in there, like a big tunnel slide or kids song videos on the big screen. Try those things out first.
- Try to get by with the rides without feeding them. Easier said than done, especially when the kids already know that they do cool stuff if they put a token in.
- If all else fails, try good old-fashioned parenting. Set limits and go before the law of diminishing returns sets in.
