Inside Edition Investigation Has Revealed That While Kids Run Wild In Chuck E Cheeses Some Locations Are Playing Fast And Loose With Its Alcohol Policy
After multiple reports of violence among adults at Chuck E. Cheeses over the last few years, it may come as a surprise that the restaurant chain serves alcohol to parents as their kids enjoy the play areas.
But an Inside Edition investigation which will air in full on Friday found that while children run wild in Chuck E. Cheeses, some locations didnt follow its two-drink maximum per customer.

Speaking of, the delivery pizza was wooden and greasy. The boneless wings were soggy nuggets. The cheese bread came with ranch to mask it. I am skeptical of the company line that it is a different pizza that features a thicker crust and extra sauce, giving consumers a more flavorful, more premium pizza experience.

Chuck E. Cheese was huge when I was a kid, and the hype around it hasn’t died down. I miss the days where I could frantically consume pizza, climb around in a large play arena with a bunch of other sweaty kids, and gamble my parents money away on mindless arcade games…simpler times.
Now, at the Cedar Falls location there will be something that adults can do.
The Cedar Falls City council met on Monday, May 3rd for their bi-weekly meeting. During the new business section of the meeting, they went through approving various applications for beer permits and liquor licenses. Some of the hot spots in Cedar Falls had their licenses renewed, and Chuck E. Cheese got approval for a new liquor license.
Chuck E. Cheese, the popular kid’s venue on University Avenue in Cedar Falls officially has been approved for a Special Class C Liquor license. This license allows for “commercial establishments to sell alcoholic liquor, wine, and beer for on-premises consumption,” as stated by the Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Division.
So now parents can throw back a cold one while their kids loose their minds with this animatronic, cartoon rat. I loved this place as a kid, but now I totally would need to open up a sippy cup of wine to be able to deal with all of the screaming kids.
To top it all off, with this license you can get carry-out drinks. Now parents will be busting down this place’s doors.

Chuck E Cheese Gropes Mom
We get it, you are in a ridiculous mouse costume, you are bored, and you are surrounded by hot moms all day long. Sure it must sound like fun to get a little action, but groping a mom while dressed as Mr. Cheese is just not a good idea. But in 2009, that is exactly what happened when Mr. Chuck E. Cheese apparently reached out and grabbed a ladys boob. The mom was not amused and sued.

Atlantic Terminals Chuck E. Cheese just got a game-changing stamp of approval: in the next three months, theyll have a license to serve wine and beer! Of age Chuck E. Between 75 and 80 percent of Chuck E. Cheese locations currently serve beer and wine, and Atlantic Terminals Chuck E. Cheese formerly held a liquor license before stopping in 2006 due to low sales. The company is allegedly hoping to appeal to a younger crowd of parents with the new development.

There are a lot of reasons to avoid Chuck E. Cheese. Im no fan of the pizza, the animatronic show is still straight out of 1978 and Ive had too many tokens swallowed by broken Skee-Ball machines. But, according to the Wall Street Journal, I should count my blessings that my visits to the place have never been marred by an 85-person melee involving pepper spray.
The WSJ piece pulls together a number of anecdotes from across the country in which parents usually enraged over something kid-related, like the hogging of a game machine come to blows. Every once in a while, we get a news story about an out-of-control hockey mom or soccer dad, but apparently, nothing touches Chuck E. when it comes to Parents Gone Wild.
While one of the explanations for the pizza-centric violence is the mama-bear instinct, in which parents rush to the defense of their children, that hardly seems compelling to me. Kids get poked or pushed or crowded by other kids all the time, and you dont tend to see fisticuffs during story time at the library.
The actual underlying reason for the violence seems to be — not a surprise — alcohol, which is available at most Chuck E. Cheeses. Alcohol and kids is a pretty dumb mix, and the claustrophobia of the place probably doesnt help.
Im curious, though, where you draw the line. Is alcohol in front of the kids verboten? Is drinking pretty much fair game at any time, as long as its in moderation? Or is there a middle ground?

Went during the Christmas break, as soon as it opened. It wasn’t too busy, and the food arrived in a reasonable time.The new points card in tricky, and may explain why it was half full. You can either have unlimited points for a set…time, or a set number of points for an unlimited time. Both have benefits, plus you can pause the card.We went with a set time and played games non-stop until it ran out. If it were busier this would not have worked. Liquor License Held By Chuck E Cheeses In Amherst Under Scrutiny
Town police have logged 123 calls over the past three years to the Chuck E. Cheeses location on Harlem Road in Amherst.
The state Liquor Authority has launched an investigation into the latest outbreaks of violence at the Chuck E. Cheeses in Amherst as a member of the state Assembly wants to bar the sale of alcohol there.
Assemblyman Raymond Walter has joined Amherst Supervisor Brian J. Kulpa in asking the authority to revoke the venues license to sell beer and wine.
A liquor license is a privilege, said Walter, an Amherst Republican whose district includes the Chuck E. Cheeses on Harlem Road.
The authority is looking into Saturdays fight between two employees, other previous violent encounters and the high volume of police calls to the venue, said William Crowley, a spokesman for the agency. Authority officials also have requested a meeting with executives from CEC Entertainment, which operates Chuck E. Cheeses restaurants here and across the country.
There are a number of recent incidents, Crowley said. Theyre obviously on our radar now.
A CEC representative did not respond to a request for comment Thursday. Following Saturdays incident, which sent a teenage employee to Oishei Childrens Hospital, the company issued a statement saying, in part, The safety of our guests and employees is our number one priority and we will continue to work closely with the community to ensure a safe environment for families.

Community Board 2s health committee on Wednesday voted in favor of a beer and wine license application for the Chuck E. Cheeses at Atlantic Terminal despite concern from some members who were hesitant to vote in favor of the application due to several recent security issues at the mall.
There are and there have been a history of security issues and concerns at that location having nothing to do with Chuck E. Cheeses, and then some with Chuck E. Cheeses, said board member John Harrison.
There have been more than a few times over the last five years in which young teenagers in large groups have had issues, and theyre not necessarily patrons of the mall or Chuck E. Cheese, but they are in and around .
One corner behind the mall was once home to an organized fight club in which dozens of kids gathered for daytime brawls organized on social media, according to police and residents.
Lou Dagindeau, general manager for the Atlantic Terminal Chuck E. Cheeses, said he has three security guards patrolling the restaurant during peak hours, including three guards present between 5 and 11 p.m. due to overlapping shifts.
We do have security, we have three security guards on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for various hours, starting from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., Dagindeau said at Wednesday’s meeting.
The beer and wine options vary from location to location, Linn said.
