Is It Necessary To Cook The Ham For The Sandwiches

Do you ever wonder if you should cook a ham or if you can just eat it straight from the fridge? We get ham from the deli and dont have to prepare it, which is a little perplexing. In a nutshell, if the ham is cured, smoked, or baked, it is regarded pre-cooked and does not need to be cooked. This includes any deli-purchased ham. In fact, most ham on the market has already been cured, smoked, or baked. It can be eaten directly out of the refrigerator as a deli meat, although other hams are usually reheated for better flavor and texture. Fresh ham can also be purchased, but it must be cooked before consumption.

If the ham has been processed, the type of ham will be specified on the package. If a hams package label specifies that it needs to be cooked , it should also include cooking instructions. It should be stated explicitly that cooking is required.

Even cured ham needs to be kept refrigerated at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. The only exception is if the ham is canned or dry-cured, in which case it can be kept at room temperature. Dry-cured hams include country ham and prosciutto. Most hams can be kept in the refrigerator for three to five days and in the freezer for three to six months, although exact times can be obtained online because there is some variety.

A few days ago Marc and I spent the afternoon together and ended the day at a small Italian restaurant that we hadn’t tried before. The decor was simple but it smelled amazing inside. When I was asked if I would like some wine with dinner I gave them my challenge question.

“I don’t know what you have – do you have a ripe, fruity red?”

Now, if a waiter can come back with a glass of wine that I like from that description I am a happy, happy camper and the restaurant gains points. Lo and behold he came back with a lovely, fruity red – round, ripe berry, plum and cherry notes that were nicely balanced with a little tang at the end. I relaxed at that point – being pretty sure that they couldn’t mess too much up if they could get the wine right.

We decided to do a family style dinner which meant that we could order 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. It gave us a chance to taste a variety of dishes and really, the flavors were pretty delicious.

One of Marc’s favorites is fried Mozzarella. I knew that would be one of the appetizers! I was waiting to see what they served… would it be homemade or would it be straight from the freezer bag?

Sigh. You know what I am going to say, don’t you?

    I was broken hearted.

You can do this. I promise you that you can not only do it – you can do it well. Serve them with Ranch, Marinara, Salsa, or what ever you like.

    Ingredients You Will Need :

Neutral oil such us peanut or canola oil.

    Large yellow or brown onion.

Salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. The more you season between steps, the tastier this stir-fry will be.

One pound of summer squash, at least 50% zucchini.

    Minced garlic.

    Pre-cooked day-old rice. I used jasmine rice.

    Freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

  • Place flour and salt in a shallow bowl and stir so the salt is evenly incorporated.
  • Crack the eggs into a second shallow bowl with 1 tablespoon of milk. Beat the eggs until light and slightly foamy.
  • Place the seasoned breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.
  • Drop the battered cheese curds in the flour, then the egg, and finally the bread crumbs. Be sure to coat the cheese curds evenly and thoroughly with each layer of the breading. Shake off any excess breading.
  • Place the coated curds on a wire rack resting on a rimmed baking sheet. Freeze them for about an hour.
  • Pour enough oil into a large skillet or a pot to be at least 2 inches deep.
  • Heat oil over medium-high heat to 375°F. Use a thermometer to verify the temperature. You dont want the oil temperature too high or too low.
  • Carefully place a few curds in the hot oil. Do not crowd the pot or the curds will not cook properly.
  • Fry the curds for about 1 minute, turning them once. Cook until they are golden brown.
  • Remove the fried cheese curds with a slotted spoon and place them on a clean wire rack over a baking sheet to drain.
  • Repeat in batches with the remaining breaded curds.
  • Enjoy immediately.
  • Fried cheese curds are also awesome to make for a party and game day. They are great finger food and will disappear quickly.

Is It Possible To Fry Sandwich Ham

    Fried Cheese with Queso Blanco

Sliced ham doesnt have to be relegated to a cold, dry sandwich. Frying sliced ham crisps the flesh and makes it enticingly hot ideal for stuffing into doughy rolls, atop a stack of waffles, or anywhere else bacon would be used. Because most ham is already cooked, frying takes only seconds rather than minutes.

It’s So Easy To Make A Batch Of Cheese Crispsand They Are Carb

Youd think, coming from an Italian family, I would have heard about cheese crisps sooner. The cheese crisps, also called frico, are pieces of lacy fried cheese that can be formed into bowls, chips or a crunchy garnish. Hailing from Northeast Italy, the dishalong with a softer version carrying the same namehas been passed down from one generation to the next.

    Where have I been?!

You can use any hard cheese, like Parmesan, Asiago or aged cheddar, that will retain enough of its shape to maintain a lacy texture, but melt enough that the crisp will hold together.
