Before I get into my rant, let me say the latrines were clean, the food was good, hot and fast. The staff were polite, and knowledgeable.That being said the now Play Pass is a bit of a scam. They removed the coins and replaced them with points, so before you got 100 coins, now you get 300 points. Sounds greats, but it aint. Most rides are 15, 20, or 25 points, whereas previously they were 1 or 2 coins. Not very fair eh?Next most games pay 1 ticket, with the odd one paying three, and fewer that pay 5 or more, not like before. You wont see kids buried in tickets, perhaps its a good thing? I dunno.Lastly the cost of tickets to buy the treats/prizes at the end are still the same. Usually my kids average between 150-200 tickets, this time we were 75 with very few options. I considered speaking with the manager, but realized how futile the effort would be.Would I return? Most likely, however Id brace my kids for less exciting prizes.

Attended a birthday party. Kids had fun. Lots of games for kids to play. Only thing that was bad is we had to take the ticket redemptions with us as the machines we too crowded with lines as half of them did not work

But reduced use of them during the coronavirus pandemic has led to a massive buildup in the companys supply chain and a plan to send 7 billion paper tickets to the shredder.
In a motion filed with a Texas bankruptcy court this week, Chuck E. Cheeses parent company, CEC Entertainment, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year, asked the courts permission to arrange for the destruction of enough tickets to fill approximately 65 forty-foot cargo shipping containers.
Leslie A. Pappas, who covers bankruptcy and corporate law for Bloomberg Industry Group, talked with Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal about what she dug up on Chuck E. Cheeses prize ticket problem. The following is an edited transcript.
Kai Ryssdal: So how did it come to pass that there are however many truckloads or container loads of these tickets sitting in storage?
Leslie Pappas: Well, the tickets are used to redeem prizes, obviously, and Chuck E. Cheese needs them on a regular basis and before the pandemic ordered many of them from suppliers based on regular business, and then COVID-19 happened.
Ryssdal: Right. And they are, fundamentally, if youre keeping Chuck E. Cheeses books, these are basically money.
Pappas: Yeah, theyre money. I think theyre worth retail value is a fraction of a penny.

Maximizing Your Time Play Card
When you load your card with play time you get unlimited game play for that amount of time. However there is a 10 second delay between each time you can tap your play pass. You can try to remember to tap your card every 10 seconds or for certain games like Harpoon Lagoon you can rest your card over the sensor and it will automatically renew your credits every 10 seconds. Again, with Harpoon Lagoon each credit gives you five shots and if you play strategically you will end up with more shots than you need, so we like to pass the card around while we play. Once a player has 40 or more shots saved up, pass the card and let another player load up. Harpoon Lagoon is fun for a while, but you dont want to feel stuck there the whole time. When my kids are loaded up, I take the card and rest it on a sensor for a coin game. So while my kids are playing their game, I load up on coins to use later. Most of the games are hard to load up credit on because they take longer to play each time, so I will tap a credit for one kid playing Batman, and then walk over and tap a credit for Football Rush. If there is any down time while they are playing, I go back to the coin games and keep loading up.

Cheesesought and received Bankruptcy Court approval for three very unique settlement agreements, earlier this year, under which it will pay $2.3 million to three vendors to destroy roughly seven BILLION prize tickets i.e., enough tickets to fill approximately 65 forty-foot cargo shipping containers. The backlog was caused by Chuck E. Cheese placing orders for tickets at pre-COVID utilization rates, the resulting pandemic and rapid fallout in sales, and, most generally, Chuck E. Cheeses efforts to transition from physical tickets to contactless transactions, like e-Tickets.
CEC Entertainment filed for chapter 11 protection in June 2020citing an unmanageable capital structure and the impact of COVID-19 as the primary catalystswith the hopes of restructuring its balance sheet and negotiating its existing lease terms with landlords. The Texas-based company has more than 600 Chuck E. Cheese locations across 47 statesmany of which were forced to shut down, at least temporarily, during the course of the pandemic.
