When I saw the cheddar and parmesan Brazi Bites at Costco last time I was there I got really excited because Ive seen that these have been available in the United States at Costco for quite some time and I also absolutely love cheese and bread so I thought for sure these would be delicious.

What Is A Cheese Ball Made Of

What is a cheese ball made of? The main ingredients that make up the inside of a cheese ball are cream cheese and grated cheese. You can use many different types of cheese to make a cheese ball but sharp cheddar is most commonly used. Other ingredients like mustard, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder are often added to the grated cheese and cream cheese for extra flavor. The outer layer of a cheese ball is made of an array of different dry ingredients such as nuts, bread crumbs, and spices.

The inside of this jalapeño cheese ball is made with cream cheese, cheddar cheese, hot sauce, and mustard. Roasted jalapeños are diced and scattered throughout the cheese ball to give it a little bit of a bite. The outer layer of this jalapeño cheese ball is made of a mixture of crushed pecans, Mexican spices, and minced green onions.

Crispy Baked Mac And Cheese Balls

Crispy on the outside, cheesy sauce on the inside, these baked mac and cheese balls are filled with whole food ingredients and hidden veggies and taste out of this world!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of NOW Foods. The opinions and text are all mine.

As if mac and cheese couldnt get any better. Umm, it can. Crispy baked mac and cheese balls. Vegan at that. The best thing about these, is that the creamy vegan cheesy sauce is all whole foods based, there are no processed ingredients. Everything is easy to find and the sauce is quick to throw together. The only issue is not burning your mouth as you try and shove them in straight from the oven. That may have happened.

Are Pumpkin Cheesecake Bites Gluten Free

Traditional cheesecake bites are usually not gluten free. To make these little pumpkin cheesecake truffles, youll need something to bind the ingredients together. Thats because the cream cheese and pumpkin are such wet ingredients that they wont hold together on their own. For that reason, many bakers put graham cracker crumbs in their cheesecake bites recipe.

But those of us who are gluten intolerant cant eat graham crackers, right? That means were going to have to make a replacement for the traditional binder in cheesecake bites. Keep reading to see what I used to replace graham crackers in my gluten free pumpkin cheesecake bites recipe.

Baking Tips For Brazilian Cheese Puffs

Jalapeño cheese ball

You can whip them up rather quickly in the blender or, in your mixer.

If you opt to use the mixer, I would suggest adding the liquids first, and the tapioca last otherwise the tapioca will gum up to the blades and be impossible to mix.

The batter will be very liquid. Pour into your greased mini muffin pan and bake for 15 minutes or until a light golden brown.

The finished Brazilian Cheese Puffs will be chewy ~ serve them with a little butter and gobble them right up

A Gluten Free Doughball Recipe With No Yeast

Ive already been working on some yeast free bakes such as my easy and quick gluten free soda bread .

And really when you find out what goes into these, prepare to have your mind BLOWN. Because this recipe only requires three ingredients and obviously one of them is cheese.

The other two are fridge and cupboard basics which hopefully most people will either have, or be able to get hold of.

Gluten Free Cheese Puffs Po De Queijo

Posted on Last updated:

Pão de Queijo are a favorite snack in Brazil. These cheesy pastries are small bites of cheese bread that are eaten all day long.

They are loved for a reason. Unlike the cheese puffs that you are acquainted with, these have a stretchy texture and are gluten-free. This is due to the flour used to make them.

Yucca, cassava or manioc flour is a staple in Brazil. You can find it at any meal of the day. It is prepared in numerous ways from a crunchy dish with bananas to a garlic spiked side dish with dinner.

Pão de Queijo is typically made with whatever cheese is available usually mozzarella, parmesan, or Minas cheese. We use parmesan in our recipe because we think the hard cheese packs more flavor.

How To Store Leftover Cream Cheese Sausage Balls:

You can store leftover cooked sausage balls in an airtight container or secure them in a closed zippie bag in the fridge for 2-3 days.

One reader informed me that she had frozen her cream cheese sausage balls in an airtight container in her freezer for 2 months, and after reheating, they turned out just as delicious as the days she had cooked them!

How Long Do Cheese Balls Last

Gluten Free Brazilian Cheese Balls | Pão de Queijo Recipe

How long do cheese balls last? The amount of time a cheese ball will last depends on exactly what is in the cheese ball. If the cheese ball contains ingredients like green onions and bell peppers that go bad faster than cheese and cream cheese then the cheese ball will only be good for as long as these ingredients last. If your cheese ball is made only of cream cheese, cheese, nuts, and spices then the cheese ball will last up to 10 days in the refrigerator or 4 6 months in the freezer. You should try to eat this cheese ball within 3 4 days since it contains roasted jalapeños and green onions.

All The Vegan Cheese Sauces Please

The success of my creamy vegan cheese sauces has been awesome. I have created quite a few already: the Ultimate Cheese Sauce, Sharp White Cheese Sauce, Mexican White Cheese Sauce, and even a Green Mac and Cheese for fun. I have many cream sauces as well, so clearly we like our sauce.

This didnt stop me, however, from creating yet ANOTHER cheesy sauce for these vegan baked mac and cheese balls. This may be one of my favorite yet, and it was even approved by my picky little middle.

How To Make A Dairy Free Cheese Ball

Here are the steps for making our allergy friendly cheese ball, it is pretty easy to make with a few steps.

This is just an overview of the steps, the full recipe card is at the end of the blog post!

  • In a large bowl, use the hand mixer to mix the dairy free cream cheese until it is softened a bit and creamy.
  • Add the dairy free cheddar cheese, 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the chopped bacon, the green onion, dairy free parmesan, the garlic powder, and black pepper.
  • If youd like some spice in this cheese ball, you can add some the red pepper flakes as well.
  • Mix everything together first, taste test, and then add the Cajun spice if you think this needs some more salt and spice. Mix everything together until combined well.
  • Line a bowl with plastic wrap with plenty of excess plastic hanging over the sides for gathering up. Place the cheese ball mixture in the bowl, gather the edges of the plastic wrap around the mixture and form into a ball.
  • Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or until firm.
  • Before serving, spread out the rest of the bacon on a cutting board or a piece of parchment paper and roll the cheese ball in the bacon to cover the cheese ball.
  • Sprinkle the cheese ball with chopped green onions or chives and red pepper flakes .
  • Serve with allergy friendly crackers, plantain chips, veggie slices, or whatever you like! Store in the fridge for up to 3 -4 days.
  • What If I Don’t Have All Ingredients

Crispy rice and cheese balls (gluten free)

Well, if you don’t have the cheese, these certainly won’t be gluten free cheesy doughballs! However you can still bake these as plain gluten free doughballs without the cheese.

Either serve them plain with a yummy garlic butter dip, or add some garlic granules to the mix to give the doughballs themselves some flavour.

If you only have plain gluten free flour then you’ll need to add 3 tsp baking powder to the mixture to give the gluten free doughballs some rise.

I use a self-raising gluten free flour mix which is a blend of flours – if you only have a specific flour such as coconut or almond flour, I’m not sure how these would turn out.

In terms of the yoghurt, if you only have Greek yoghurt this will work too, though you may need to add a little extra to the mix.

Greek yoghurt is thicker than plain natural yoghurt so you will need a little more or the mixture will be too stiff – I’d recommend adding this 1 tbsp at a time to find the right consistency.

If you want to make this dairy free, you’ll need to use a dairy free yoghurt such as coconut yoghurt, and a dairy free cheese.

I’ve personally not tried this so can’t vouch for the results but having seen many other ‘yoghurt + flour’ recipes which use dairy free yoghurt, I’m confident this would still work fine!

    Oh So Theyre Popovers

Not exactly Gougères are really similar to popovers, which Ive made with grated cheese in them as well. But theyre not exactly the same. And theres even an argument to be made that theyre better than popovers.

Both choux pastry and popovers have the same basic ingredients: butter, milk, flour, and eggs. Neither popovers nor gougères have any sort of chemical leavener like baking soda or baking powder. But somehow they both still puff up like crazy in the oven, creating a light, airy puff with a creamy bottom.

How To Make Cream Cheese Sausage Balls:

  • Mix and roll. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly using your hands to mix.Roll the dough into balls using a ice cream scoop if you have one. Otherwise create rolled balls the size of ping pong balls.
  • Bake in the oven. Place the balls on tin foil lined baking sheet and bake at 400*F for 8 minutes.
  • Devour. Check the balls and cook for another 6-8 minutes, depending on how crispy you like your cream cheese sausage balls. Enjoy!

I love to serve these easy sausage balls with my favorite dips. The raspberry chili and apricot chili dips are made with sweet chili sauce. They are slightly spicy but not too much.

    • Raspberry Chili Dip : 1/2 cup raspberry jam & 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
    • : 1/2 cup apricot jam & 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
    • Dont use pre-shredded cheese, shred your own for best results.
    • If your mixture seems dry, add a bit of milk to moisten
    • You can mix the sausage quickly using a hand mixer, or by hand. All of the ingredients should be well combined.
    • Use a scoop to make preparation easy.

Ive been in my own little world lately, hurtling headlong towards a deadline, stuck in an endless cycle of cook, write, photograph, repeat. But apparently, here in America we have a major sporting event of some sort coming up this weekend. Super something.

I dont know too much about it but from what I can gather a bunch of big, burly guys fight over a few precious yards of real estate while throwing an oblong shaped ball around. They knock each other down, maim and injure each other all in defense of something. Every once in a while, one of those big, burly guys carries or kicks said oblong shaped ball across a goal and half the spectators cheer while the other half groan. The big burly guys jump up and down, hug, and slap each other on the ass.

The other thing I know is that another set of big, burly guys will gather around the flat screen in my living room yelling at the tv, explaining to each other how stupid or genius some guy is and every now and again explode in cheers of victory or cries of utter anguish. I also know they eat while doing this a lot!

Every year, before I escape to the sanctuary of a darkened movie theatre to watch back to back sappy chick flicks, I make a little something to go along with the nachos, chips, chicken wings and beer the house invaders consume in astonishing quantities.

The Birth Of Fried Mac And Cheese Balls

It all began with a trip to Trader Joes.

We all know that a trip to Trader Joes is basically an adventure in grocery shopping. For someone with grocery shopping ADHD its paradise. Almost as good as Homegoods.

I was making a slow run through Trader Joes and I noticed, prominently displayed in the freezer section, Fried Mac and Cheese Bites. I was intrigued. It was obvious that they werent certified Kosher, but for a culinary MacGyver it was a challenge too good to pass up.

Thank you Trader Joes Fried Mac and Cheese bites for the inspiration!

    What Are Brazilian Cheese Puffs

    Great Value Gluten

Brazilian cheese puffs , also known as Pao de Queijo, are a simple Brazilian cheese bread.

They are quite similar to American popovers except they are made with tapioca flour in lieu of regular all purpose flour.

for a relatively good price. If you cant find tapioca flour, check your local grocer for Arrowroot Flour as that is quite similar.

I wouldnt recommend using Coconut Flour or Almond Flour as that will change the texture completely..
