This cheesesteak pizza comes together so easily! Heres what youll need to make it:
- Steak marinade: The steak marinade is a combination of Italian dressing, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Sirloin or flank steak: Slice the steak very thinly against the grain.
- Alfredo sauce: Store-bought or homemade works perfectly!

What’s A Philly Cheesesteak
Philly cheesesteak sandwiches originated in – you guessed it – Philadelphia, PA. The famous sandwich was created in the 1930s’ and originally consisted of hot dog buns, chopped steak, and grilled onions. Today, when you think of a Philly Cheesesteak, it should have shaved beef, caramelized onions, and melty cheese on a toasted hoagie roll. Popular vegetable add-ons include red or green bellpepper and mushrooms.

What Makes A Cheesesteak Authentic
Is this a genuine Philadelphia cheesesteak, or is it a knockoff? In a nutshell, the answer is no. However, I can assure you that this steak sandwich is wonderful, savory, and scrumptious. I believe you will appreciate it whether it is authentic or not. What distinguishes a real Philly cheesesteak? First and foremost, it is likely that it will need to be produced in Philadelphia hence the name. Another option is a typical cheesesteak, which is cooked with thinly sliced ribeye steak, cheese, and a toasted anamoroso bread.
You may get your cheesesteak topped with American cheese, provolone cheese, or cheese whiz depending on where you go to get your sandwich.
If you do not care for these toppings, they are fully optional and may be left out of the recipe.

How To Reheat Pizza
The best method for reheating pizza is in the oven. Preheat the oven to 425 and place your pizza on a baking sheet. You can line it with parchment paper for easier clean up if youd like. Once the oven is up to temp, cook the pizza in it for 8-10 minutes, until you can smell it.
The cheese should be almost bubbling and hot, even in the center, and the crust should stay nice and crispy.

Whats A Brooklyn Style Pizza
The crust is stretched thinner than that of a standard Dominos pizza, and the cornmeal cooked into the crust gives it certain crispness. The pieces of pepperoni and wads of sausage the company suggests as toppings are freakishly large. The slices are so big you can fold them, which, it seems, is the Brooklyn-y part.
What Cut Of Meat Is Best For Philly Cheesesteak Pizza
While ribeye is the traditional cut of beef for Philly Cheese Steak, I like to use flank steak in this pizza recipe because it has the perfect amount of fat/marbling to emerge wonderfully juicy and flavorful and is less expensive. The flank steak emerges buttery tender by slicing it against the grain and marinating it.

What Is A Philly Cheesesteak
Before we show you how to make the best Philly cheesesteak pizza thats just like Dominos, well show you why the restaurant even decided to make a cheesesteak-themed pizza in the first place.
A Philly cheesesteak is a type of sandwich thats now a local delicacy in where it first originated from. Hence its name Philly, which is short for Philadelphia. This sandwich is made up of beef steak, caramelized onions, and melted cheese encased in a long bread, commonly a hoagie. Its a very meaty, cheesy, and, most of all, hearty sandwich. Theres a reason its so well-loved, after all.
Usually, Philly cheesesteak meat is either a thinly-sliced rib eye or top round steak cut. However, other cuts are also used, like the top sirloin . The cheeses youd find in this steak sandwich are either American cheese, provolone cheese, or even Cheez Whiz.
Some food establishments melt the American cheese and then add them to the sandwich for a more gooey eating experience. However, others simply let the heat of the steaks melt the slices of scrumptious American cheese. Also, while hoagie rolls are often used for this sandwich, some variations opt for French bread or the soft and slightly-salted Amoroso rolls. All these different ingredients and methods help give the iconic sandwich its signature taste.

Which Type Of Beef Should I Use For This Philly Cheesesteak Pizza
- My preference is to use thinly sliced ribeye steak. Oftentimes, I can find cheesesteak style thinly sliced steak in the meat section of the grocery store. If you dont have this option, you can ask the butcher to thinly slice a ribeye for you, or you could even use roast beef slices from the deli counter. There are also frozen varieties of cheesesteak-style beef.
- Another option is to thinly slice a ribeye steak yourself. If you choose this option, stick the beef in the freezer for about 15 minutes before you attempt to slice it very thinly with a sharp knife. This will make the slicing easier. The goal is to have very thinly sliced beef so that it cooks quickly and is easier to eat on top of the pizza.
- Good quality beef will make this recipe shine!

Philly Cheese Steak Pizza Sticks Recipe:
- Start by chopping up some green bell peppers and onions, then sauté them in a skillet with just a little butter.
- Unroll some refrigerated pizza dough and cut into mini rectangles.
- Top each slice of pizza dough with some provolone cheese, deli roast beef and your sautéed peppers and onions.
- Wrap them up, brush with butter and bake!
There is major debate on the actual components for a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich.
Some say there are no peppers, some say there are no onions, some say that only authentic Philly Cheesesteaks have cheese whiz, NOT provolone cheese.
To this I say, just do what makes you happy!
This recipe reflects what I think is a delicious sandwich stuffed into some pizza dough. It might not be the most authentic recipe out there, but it tastes AMAZING!
Assemble And Bake Philly Cheesesteak Pizza
Now Ill walk you through using a pizza stone to cook Philly pizza, but you can find directions on cooking pizza on a sheet pan in the recipe at the bottom of this page.
Help pizza dough rise in advance The morning-of making the pizza, move the dough from the fridge to a countertop. At a minimum, take the dough out of the fridge a couple of hours before making this pizza recipe .
Step 1. Preheat oven to 460ºF and preheat pizza stone. Consult your pizza stone to ensure the cooking temperature is safe and appropriate for your particular brand.
Step 2. Stretch the pizza dough. Check out the Sip Bite Go guide to stretching pizza dough for visuals or watch this pizza recipe video at the bottom of this page. There are also tips for you in the recipe card notes.
Step 3. Assemble pizza. Take the pizza stone out of the oven and brush half the olive oil on the pizza stone. Carefully add raw pizza to the hot pizza stone. Add the pizza toppings right on top of the raw pizza dough.
First, brush olive oil on the outside crust of the pizza in a circle shape. Then add sauce to the center of the raw pizza dough leaving 1 on the outside for the crust.
Sprinkle on the cheese. Top with cooked steak slices and sautéed onions and peppers.
Step 4. Bake pizza. Add pizza to the oven and bake at 460ºF for 10-15 minutes . Pizza is ready when cheese has completely melted and is starting to bubble. The bottom of the dough should be golden brown.

Can You Use Expired Yeast
The short answerNo, I would not recommend expired yeast.
The key to a fantastic homemade pizza is the yeast. If you have some tucked in the back of your cupboard, its likely expired. Expired yeast is often the reason your pizza dough wont rise properly.
So go ahead and grab yourself a pack of Fleischmanns® RapidRise® Yeast when you go to the grocery store.
