Chuck E Cheese To Serve Beer And Wine To Attract Young Parents
Chuck E. Cheese is adding new options to its menu that includes beer and wine, a new effort to win over millennial moms.
The chain is trying to appeal to young moms because majority of the time moms are deciding where theyre taking their children.
Her kids know its a fun place to go, but millennial moms want to provide that great experience without sacrificing for themselves, Greg Casale, the head chef at CEC Entertainment, Chuck E. Cheeses parent company, said in an interview with Bloomberg.
Chuck E. Cheese, a place where kids often host birthday parties filled with pizza, games and sugary drinks, is appealing to millennials to increase sales. In 2014, sales slipped 2.2 percent, Bloomberg reported.
The chain found that children wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese an average of 11 times a year, but only went three times because parents were not taking them. Part of the reason was because they didnt like the menu.
The menu will feature beer, wine and some new healthier food choices. A few locations already offer a small selection of beers. More beer and wine choices will be added to all 588 locations.
Some other menu changes include a new thin-crust pizza that has 23 fewer calories than its regular slice of pizza, and chicken Caesar and club wraps. A pizza topped with macaroni and cheese will also be added to its limited-time-only menu an option mostly geared toward its younger demographic.

There are a lot of reasons to avoid Chuck E. Cheese. Im no fan of the pizza, the animatronic show is still straight out of 1978 and Ive had too many tokens swallowed by broken Skee-Ball machines. But, according to the Wall Street Journal, I should count my blessings that my visits to the place have never been marred by an 85-person melee involving pepper spray.
The WSJ piece pulls together a number of anecdotes from across the country in which parents usually enraged over something kid-related, like the hogging of a game machine come to blows. Every once in a while, we get a news story about an out-of-control hockey mom or soccer dad, but apparently, nothing touches Chuck E. when it comes to Parents Gone Wild.
While one of the explanations for the pizza-centric violence is the mama-bear instinct, in which parents rush to the defense of their children, that hardly seems compelling to me. Kids get poked or pushed or crowded by other kids all the time, and you dont tend to see fisticuffs during story time at the library.
The actual underlying reason for the violence seems to be — not a surprise — alcohol, which is available at most Chuck E. Cheeses. Alcohol and kids is a pretty dumb mix, and the claustrophobia of the place probably doesnt help.
Im curious, though, where you draw the line. Is alcohol in front of the kids verboten? Is drinking pretty much fair game at any time, as long as its in moderation? Or is there a middle ground?

The skee-ball machine and all the tickets. Oh, those tickets brought more smiles than candy! Getting to pick a toy to take home was everything. I still have our play cards and coins. I promised my baby we would use them when social distancing was over I dont have the heart to tell her yet! Ima just let this one play out and not make a big deal about it. The exciting thing is there will be something new. Hopefully, they wont serve beer!

Chuck E Cheese’s At Atlantic Terminal Gets Ok To Serve Beer And Wine
FORT GREENE A kids paradise could soon be serving up a bit of bliss for parents too.
Community Board 2s health committee on Wednesday voted in favor of a beer and wine license application for the Chuck E. Cheeses at Atlantic Terminal despite concern from some members who were hesitant to vote in favor of the application due to several recent security issues at the mall.
There are and there have been a history of security issues and concerns at that location having nothing to do with Chuck E. Cheeses, and then some with Chuck E. Cheeses, said board member John Harrison.
There have been more than a few times over the last five years in which young teenagers in large groups have had issues, and theyre not necessarily patrons of the mall or Chuck E. Cheese, but they are in and around .
One corner behind the mall was once home to an organized fight club in which dozens of kids gathered for daytime brawls organized on social media, according to police and residents.
Lou Dagindeau, general manager for the Atlantic Terminal Chuck E. Cheeses, said he has three security guards patrolling the restaurant during peak hours, including three guards present between 5 and 11 p.m. due to overlapping shifts.
We do have security, we have three security guards on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for various hours, starting from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., Dagindeau said at Wednesday’s meeting.
The beer and wine options vary from location to location, Linn said.

Everything about this place is great! Wished that it had a jungle gym like the old days instead of a open theater, but I like the convenient options for paying by the amount of time vs just by tickets! Theyboffer food and drink here too and just like an arcade they have the ticket redemption center. There are games where you can spray water and still use old fashioned coins with a claw machine you are almost bound to win a ball for your little one. Very much appreciated.
It was a fun experience for the kid’s and my self, but the points/card machine was down and had to wait for customer service personal to comeback to the front to help us. It is well worth it just be prepared to wait a few minutes if there’s a birthday party or celebration going on.

Chuck E. Cheese was huge when I was a kid, and the hype around it hasn’t died down. I miss the days where I could frantically consume pizza, climb around in a large play arena with a bunch of other sweaty kids, and gamble my parents money away on mindless arcade games…simpler times.
Now, at the Cedar Falls location there will be something that adults can do.
The Cedar Falls City council met on Monday, May 3rd for their bi-weekly meeting. During the new business section of the meeting, they went through approving various applications for beer permits and liquor licenses. Some of the hot spots in Cedar Falls had their licenses renewed, and Chuck E. Cheese got approval for a new liquor license.
Chuck E. Cheese, the popular kid’s venue on University Avenue in Cedar Falls officially has been approved for a Special Class C Liquor license. This license allows for “commercial establishments to sell alcoholic liquor, wine, and beer for on-premises consumption,” as stated by the Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Division.
So now parents can throw back a cold one while their kids loose their minds with this animatronic, cartoon rat. I loved this place as a kid, but now I totally would need to open up a sippy cup of wine to be able to deal with all of the screaming kids.
To top it all off, with this license you can get carry-out drinks. Now parents will be busting down this place’s doors.

Whats At Chuck E Cheese
Chuck E. Cheese is more than just a restaurant its a giant video arcade for little kids that also sells food. Its a lot like Pizza Planet, the place where Buzz Lightyear and Woody visit in the movie Toy Story, although not quite as fancy.
At Chuck E. Cheese there are ball toss games, car races, an air hockey table, video games, jumping games, photo booths and lots and lots of noise and lights all of which little people love!
Whats especially good about Chuck E. Cheese is the price each game costs less than 50 cents, so far less than a regular arcade game that adults and teenagers might normally play.
The trouble with the low price though is you will want to play lots of games. Still, if you ration your tokens, a family with two children can probably last up to 90 minutes playing games for only about $30, without food, but up to $100 if they go truly crazy.
There are two other great things about Chuck E. Cheese. First, children love the fact that games spit out tickets that they can collect and redeem at the end for cheap little prizes.
Second, when they need a break from the excitement, parents love the fact that the restaurant is secure, so they can sit and relax at a table while their kids run off on their own.

When I read the news last week that Chuck E. Cheese’s had been bought for $950 million by an affiliate of the Apollo Management Group, it triggered a flood of memories: skee ball, prize tickets, animatronic mammals, and uninspiring pizza. Thing is, I wasn’t remembering my own childhood I was remembering my trip — with my wife, our two daughters, our friends, and their two kids — to a Chuck E. Cheese’s branch in exurban Pennsylvania, at the end of December 2013.
And amazingly, it wasn’t a nightmare! In fact, I would not even mind going back there, now that I know precisely what to expect:
1. You’re not there for the food. I can’t imagine anyone at Chuck E. Cheese will be offended if I say that their pizza is not great. It’s not inedible, of course. I mean, it’s pizza! So stop worrying that it doesn’t measure up to the $25-per-pie artisanal Neapolitan joint. Enjoy it for what it is — and, like me, bring along a little packet of good hot pepper flakes, plus maybe a nub of pecorino romano and a tiny microplane grater.

2. Not all Chuck E. Cheese’s serve beer. Like, say, that one in exurban Pennsylvania. Next time, I’ll pack a small flask — not of whiskey but of gentler, pizza-friendly liqueurs, like a half-and-half blend of Campari and sweet vermouth, which might go well with a bit of Sprite from the soda fountain. And be smart: If one parent has to drive home, that parent drinks root beer.
